Kids in Focus (KIF) is an Arizona nonprofit dedicated to mentoring youth to overcome adversity and build resilience through the art of photography. Since 2012, KIF has been putting cameras in kids’ hands with the guidance and encouragement of adult mentors — many who are avid and professional photographers. Through their afterschool mentoring program and workshops, KIF has helped connect with students and nurture life-long creativity and self-expression.
KIF’s promotion of photography as a life-long creative outlet and potential career pathway, coupled with their dedication to youth mentorship, have made them an ideal partner for Agital.
Our agency regularly organizes volunteer efforts to address the needs of underserved youth in our communities, whether through afterschool programs, internships, or food drives. Our expertise in marketing and design also positions us well to educate young program participants on the ways they can turn their passion for photography into a lifelong creative outlet.
Like many nonprofits, KIF faces challenges related to limited resources and the need for professional expertise to amplify their mission. In recognizing these challenges, Agital stepped forward, not just as volunteers, but as design and storytelling partners.
At the forefront of Agital’s efforts is the annual photography book. Unlike traditional volunteer efforts, this initiative calls on Agital’s professional capabilities in design and layout to properly showcase the young photographers’ work.
2023 Photography Exhibit Book
Every year, the program releases a book containing the students’ collective portfolio, where it’s promoted for sale at an annual exhibit each spring and a fundraiser each fall. By modernizing and updating the book’s design each year, Agital has ensured that the voice and vision of each photographer are not just highlighted but given a chance to shine in a professional and refined format.

This book not only serves as a key fundraising tool for KIF but also plays a crucial role in boosting the self-esteem of the participating youth, seeing their perspectives celebrated and valued.
Beyond design work, Agital also plays a critical role in amplifying the direct voices of the participating children. By conducting interviews with kids in the program, our writers have helped gather artist bios, memorable quotes, and titles for their works, enriching the narrative surrounding each photograph.

Kids in Focus
Volunteers from Agital have also contributed their time and skills to ensure the execution of two hallmark events for Kids in Focus: the annual exhibit each spring and the celebrated Noche para los Niños fundraiser each fall. Agital volunteers have helped set up, manage, and take down these events for several years.
The Exhibit Opening, a springtime celebration, opens its doors for a family-friendly gathering where attendees have the unique opportunity to meet the young photographers, view their works, and enjoy an evening filled with food and music.
The Noche para los Niños event, held in the autumn, immerses guests in a Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)-themed soirée, offering a rich sensory experience while raising crucial funds to support the program.
Agital’s partnership with Kids in Focus demonstrates how professional skills and resources can be deployed in a pro bono capacity to address significant challenges faced by nonprofits. Through this collaboration, Agital not only supports KIF’s immediate needs but contributes to the bigger picture of empowering youth in local communities.
